No — no AI model reads your files — the conversion is fully deterministic. Each photo is decoded and re-encoded as a JPG or PNG; the same input produces the same output every time.

Should I pick JPG or PNG?

JPG for almost everything: it's much smaller and opens everywhere. Pick PNG when a form specifically demands it or when you want a lossless copy for further editing. Both come out of the same upload — just switch the output format.

What happens to the photo's metadata?

The EXIF orientation tag is applied to the pixels, so portrait shots come out upright. All other metadata — camera model, capture date, and GPS location — is not carried into the converted file, so a photo you post or email doesn't reveal where it was taken.

Are my photos private?

Yes. They are converted on our own servers, never sent to a third-party cloud, and auto-deleted 7 days after the job finishes.

Questions

Since iOS 11, iPhones save photos in HEIF ("High Efficiency") format with a .heic extension — files are roughly half the size of JPG at the same quality. That's great on the phone, but Windows, Android, older software, and most web upload forms still expect JPG or PNG. Converting gives you the same photo in a format everything opens.
