Every check carries the amount twice: the courtesy box (numerals) and the legal line (spelled out). The courtesy box is read as a number and the legal line is transcribed word for word; our code — not the AI — converts the written words to a number and compares. If they agree within a cent, that's the row amount. If they disagree, the amount cell is left blank and the row is flagged with both readings — we never guess which one is right. If the written line can't be parsed, the row is flagged for review instead of silently trusted.

They are masked to the last four digits, and the masking is enforced on our servers regardless of what the model outputs — any run of five or more digits is also scrubbed from memo and note text before the spreadsheet is written. Full MICR numbers never reach your download. A last-4 appears only when it was read cleanly from the check's MICR line and passes a format check in code; anything uncertain is left blank and flagged so you can verify it from the physical check.

Put each back right after its front in your upload or PDF and the two are paired into one row, adding an endorsement status: signed, stamped, restrictive ("for deposit only"), or blank. Backs without a matching front become their own flagged row so nothing is silently dropped.

JPG or PNG photos, PDF scans (one check image per page), or a zip containing either. A stack of checks photographed with your phone works fine.
